NGO Benchmarking

The SGS Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) Benchmarking Standard provides the organization with the highest possible assurance that the objectives will be reached in a transparent and efficient manner and in full accountability to all stakeholders. The results can as well be translated into an internal management tool for continuous improvement purposes.

Such system also enables the NGO:

  • To detect weaknesses and preventively correct
    them

  • To get a ‘dashboard’ measuring compliance
levels against a comprehensive (rather than
    sector focused) set of criteria

  • To reapply at regular intervals or whenever there is a need for it

  • To reduce or prevent any reputation risks and
take immediate action on major non-
    conformities, if any

  • To provide confidence to its stakeholders
through the use of an independent third-party

  • To meet expectations of stakeholders and the
public at large (with increasing power and
    influence) and

  • To gain better positioning towards funding
    sources

The certification audit also features:

  • Flexibility to account for local conditions
  • Immediate snapshot of results (for validation
    purposes)
  • Mapping of strengths and weaknesses
  • Identification of needs for continuous
    improvement purposes

Consolidated Reports

Whenever several audits are performed for the same client, for example a grantor or when covering several branches from the same organization, the purpose of a “Consolidated Report” is

  • To compare compliance levels among grantees
    or between units/branches/affiliates within a
    network

  • To identify recurrent non-conformities and hence
to design a focused improvement program

  • To position an organization vs. its peers. Such
can be done by country, sector etc

Here-attached provides an outline of such Report.
